Donna Maria and I are headed to Washington DC to meet with staffers for the House Energy & Commerce Committee about new proposed legislation that may have an adverse effect on toiletry manufacturers throughout the nation. If you haven’t read about it, click here to be taken to the Indie Beauty Network website to read about it. Sign the petition if you feel strongly.
Join Donna Maria and I for a short debriefing session, networking and lots of business information sharing after our meeting. We won’t just be talking about the FDA act and business – it’ll be lots of fun to meet everyone and learn more about you. If you’d like to join us on August 5th at 5:30, please RSVP on Donna Maria’s blog here.
The actual meeting part is a closed door thing but join us afterward for a debrief and great dinner. =)
This sounds great! Is there anything going on during the day or is the meeting a closed doors type deal?
Either way, it is so great to have some great leaders representing all of us.
Hi thanks. Perfect answer. I signed the petition, but I just wanted to know more about the Act.
Hi Lysa –
I’m off Jury Duty for the day – was excused this morning for the whole day – so let me know if dM’s post didn’t answer your question =)
Lysa, A-M is on jury duty and asked me to reply to your question. Cosmetics are defined at this link at the FDA’s cosmetics website. http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/cos-218.html. Hope this helps. dM

I wish I could join you for the debriefing! Thank you so much for representing our industry in DC. I can’t think of anyone I would rather have doing it.

Thank you so much for going to represent all of us! I wish I could come down (so psyched to have you on this side of the States!) I’ll be thinking of you and looking forward to hearing how it goes!
I have a question. I just read through the sections of the act pertaining to cosmetics and HOLY COW! But I am curious as to what constitutes cosmetics? This new act states: “the amendment made by subsection (a) applies to cosmetics through the operation of section 604 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, as added by section 301 (a).” I looked up the FFDC act and there is no section 604. I’m confused…..
