Attention Android Users!

Bramble Berry Soap App just $1.99 in the Android Market

Do you want to be able to formulate Soapmaking Recipes wherever you are and not go running to your computer every time you need to make a change? The Bramble Berry Soapmaking Calculator will accurately calculate saponification (SAP) values for over 60 oils with superfatting ranges up to 20%. The calculator also figures out an estimated amount of liquids for your recipe. Program comes pre-loaded with 6 recipes. You can edit those recipes or make your own from scratch. Recipes can be saved and emailed. App works in grams and ounces and comes with a NOTES section for you to customize your recipes.

The Soap App comes with 3 liquid soap recipes and 3 bar soap recipes.

ONE: Enter your own ingredients by clicking on “start a new recipe”. Then click “Add new ingredient” to enter an oil or fat to the recipe. Repeat this step for the rest of the ingredients. Before you save the recipe, choose a superfatting percentage and a yield amount.

TWO: Once your recipe is complete add any final notes to the notes section on the very bottom of the screen. Then click the “menu” button on your phone to save, discard or change your preferences.

THREE: Once the recipe is saved you can click “menu” again for more options and preferences.

Turn the recipe sideways for the cute note card feature.

  8. Mary says:

This a great app for those who make cold process soap, however am I melt and pour/rebatch soap maker. Wonder if there will be an app for that? Like the fragrance calculator? I’ve tried going to the website on my droid to use the fragrance calc but it doesn’t work. I’m always having to run up stairs to use the comp. just a thought : )

    • Anne-Marie says:

We don’t have an app for that but usage rates for fragrances with melt and pour can easily be done in your head. Just do 1/4 ounce of fragrance per pound of melt and pour and you’re golden! The only exceptions are some essential oils (like Peppermint can realllllly make for a cooling soap in the nether regions if you use .25 oz of essential oil per pound of soap) =)

That said, thanks for the suggestion! Keep ‘em comin’!

  9. I downloaded it, but haven’t used it yet. Will be putting it into use very soon. It looks like it will be super easy to use. Thanks so much.

  10. Lynette says:

can you calculate a water discount?

    • Courtney says:

There’s no water discount on the app. But we usually do the math at the end and generally stick to a 5% water discount. You can actually go all the way up to a 40% water discount. Keep in mind that high percentage tends to accelerate trace which makes swirling and layering a little difficult.
