Furry friends bring loads of fun and love into our lives. Growing up, I had an Australian Blue Heeler named Hershey and a sweet cat named Tiger. During high school I ran a small business breeding and selling Russian Dwarf Hamsters. I love animals of all shapes and sizes!
This Puppy Love Melt and Pour project uses the new Good Dog Mold 2 to create three adorable and unique puppy soaps. If you are looking for more dog molds, the Good Dog Mold 1 features three different designs. Scented with Energy Fragrance Oil and colored using various color blocks, these molds are easy to customize to recreate your own pet. If you enjoy looking at cute animal photos (who doesn’t?), scroll to the bottom of this post =)
What You’ll Need:
Good Dog Mold 2
Injector Tool
3 oz. Clear Melt and Pour
14.25 oz. White Melt and Pour
6 mL Energy Fragrance Oil
Yellow Oxide Color Block
Perfect Red Color Block
Ultramarine Blue Color Block
Chrome Green Color Block
Brown Oxide Color Block
Black Oxide Color Block
TWO: Cut and melt down .5 oz of clear melt and pour base in the microwave using 5-7 second bursts. Add shavings of the Perfect Red Color Block, and fill in the tongue and hearts. Spray with isopropyl alcohol to disperse bubbles and clean the Injector Tool.
THREE: Cut and melt 1.5 oz. of clear melt and pour base in the microwave using 5-10 second bursts. Add shavings of Brown Oxide Color Block until a dark brown color is achieved. Once the soap has reached approximately 125 °F, use the injector tool to fill in the spot of the basset dog, the body of the dog saying “Roo!” and one dog in the mold with hearts. Spray with isopropyl alcohol to disperse bubbles, and clean the Injector Tool with hot water.
FOUR: Cut and melt 1.5 oz. white melt and pour base in the microwave using 5-7 second bursts. Once the soap has reached an approximate temperature of 125 °F, spray all molds with alcohol to help the layers adhere. Use the Injector Tool to fill in the “Roof!” bubble, the basset dog, and the other dog in the mold featuring hearts. Clean the injector tool, and spray with isopropyl alcohol to disperse any bubbles.
FIVE: Cut and melt down 4.25 oz of white melt and pour base in the microwave using 10 second bursts. Add shavings of the Ultramarine Blue Color Block, until your desired color is achieved. Add 2 mL of Energy Fragrance Oil, and stir to thoroughly incorporate.
SIX: Once the soap is fully melted, and has reached a temperature of about 120 °F, spray a mold cavity with isopropyl alcohol and gently pour the soap into the cavity.
SEVEN: Spray the top of the cavity with alcohol to disperse any bubbles.
EIGHT: Cut down and melt 4.25 oz of white melt and pour in the microwave using 10 second bursts. Add shavings of the Yellow Oxide Color Block until a soft yellow color is achieved. Add 2 mL of Energy Fragrance Oil and stir to thoroughly combine. Once the soap has reached a temperature of approximately 120°F spray a cavity with isopropyl alcohol, and gently pour the yellow soap into a mold cavity. Spray with alcohol to disperse any bubbles.
NINE: Cut down and melt 4.25 oz of white melt and pour in the microwave using 10 second bursts. Add shavings of the Chrome Green Color Block until a soft green color is achieved. Add 2 mL of Energy Fragrance Oil and stir to thoroughly combine. Once the soap has reached a temperature of approximately 120°F spray a cavity with isopropyl alcohol, and gently pour the green soap into the remaining mold cavity. Spray with alcohol to disperse any bubbles.
Allow the soap to fully harden and cool. To remove from the mold, using the palm of your hand to firmly press on the front of the mold to release the air lock. If you have difficulty removing the soap, place in the freezer for approximately 30 minutes and try again.
At the Bramble Berry warehouse and office, we have a lot of animals lovers! Below, are some of the Bramble-pets that belong to Bramble Berry employees. How adorable are these furry friends?
Do you have a furry friend? I would love to hear about them. Currently, my household does not have any pets due to allergies. Frogs, turtles and fish may be in our future! =)

- Cut and melt 1 oz. of clear melt and pour base in the microwave using 5-7 second bursts. The small bursts in the microwave prevent the melt and pour from burning. Add shavings of the Black Oxide Color Block until a rich, black color is achieved. Using the injector tool, fill in the eyes, noses and “ROOF” lettering. Spray with rubbing or isopropyl alcohol to disperse bubbles.Note: Keep a container of hot, soapy water nearby to clean out the injector tool throughout the project. If you don’t, soap will harden in the injector tool.

Why does the mold say “ROO !”?
Kelsey says
I think the sound was for a dog howling! They do make a sort of “Roo” sound then. 🙂

Hi! Love this project idea! About how many soaps will this kit yield? I’m totally new to soaping and this website is spectacular. Thanks to all:)
Kelsey says
Hi Leora!
So glad you love the project! The recipe makes three 4.25 ounce bars. The kit itself comes with 2 pounds of soap and plenty of color and fragrance, so you can definitely make more bars if you like! 🙂

Hi. Isn’t the picture for this tutorial a chocolate chai tea drink mix?
Shouldn’t it be the dog soaps?
-Cadence
Kelsey says
Hi Cadence!
Whoops, looks like the wrong image was used in the archives. Sorry about any confusion! That’s fixed now. 🙂

Hi, I just tried this kit and it was a disaster. The clear M&P stayed melted for 30 seconds, tops. I tried on 50%, 30% and full power to see if any of it made a difference and it didn’t. Plus, the soap hardened in the injector tool before I could finish the first set of dogs. It’s still soaking in hot water and still clogged.
I tried three times before I just gave up on this doggie soap. I was so excited I paid for 2 day shipping, too. Bummer.
Kelsey says
Hi Michelle!
Oh no, I’m so sorry this kit was giving you trouble! Melt and pour can definitely be tricky.
The melt and pour may be burned, which is why it’s hardening up so quickly. To keep it from burning, melt the smaller amounts on 5-second bursts, and the larger amount on 10-second bursts.
Watch it closely, because you don’t want the melt and pour to boil.

Oh my goodness, who owns the Sheltie? 🙂
I have one and I just melt for every Sheltie I see. They’re all gorgeous. So not good for allergies unfortunately.
Kelsey says
Hi Emily!
Nicole, who helps out with our social media, owns the sheltie. His name is Jack! 🙂

Hi Olivia!
Me too! Gracie the horse is owned by our production manager, Caitilin, and Rachel in our customer service department has Jake, the Boston Terrier. It was definitely fun to share our pet pictures. 🙂

Hi Anne-Marie! What a sweet soap for all the dog lovers.
I have two little dogs that I love so much, three turtles, and a fish. My three turtles are red eared sliders.
And since you said that turtles could be a future pet, I just wanted to say that turtles are a fun pet, but a lot of work! They need a sunny spot to dry out, but they also need a tank. But as much work as pets are, I still love them.
I hope you find a pet that really fits in with your family, and that your children really love.
Kelsey says
Hi Krissy!
Thank you so much for that information! It sounds like your house has a lot of great pet friends. 🙂

I’m not an animal person at all, but the soaps are charming.
Kelsey says
Hi Michael!
So glad you like them! 🙂

I love animals of all shapes and sizes! If you’re looking for a dog that will have lots of energy for the kids and is hypo-allergenic, look into Portuguese Water Dogs. I actually dog sit two of them and they are great fun, loving, and smart. When I say smart, I mean like human smart. They’re wonderful dogs!
Kelsey says
Hi Sara!
They sound like great pups! 🙂

Donna Baird says
I love them! I own a small overnight pet sitting service, and there are times I just can’t get enough of our furry pets!
Kelsey says
Hi Donna!
Agreed, they’re just so cute. 🙂

Cheryl says
There are dogs that are non-allergenic. Look to the poodle type breeds if a dog is what you’d like. My father-in-law has 3 w/ his allergies. 🙂
Kelsey says
Hi Cheryl!
Thank you for letting us know! 🙂
